A little bit backwards

During a flurry of activity to leave the house yesterday morning, I mentioned to my husband that the FedEx truck was probably going to arrive with the author copies of You’ve Got This, Mama -The Change Edition and no one would be home to sign for them. Between the frantic coffee slurping (me), backpack organizing (him), and the changing from pajamas to clothes (all of us), it was just a casual thought that tumbled to the forefront of my consciousness. Oh, how times had changed in 6 short months! It seems like forever ago that I was pacing the house watching for the FedEx truck to arrive with boxes of Crummy Conversations. And now I sorta, kinda, almost forgot that it was book launch week for You’ve Got This, Mama – The Change Edition (A Mother’s Guide to Embracing the Unknown & Living a Beautiful Life). This co-authored book launches on Amazon today and yours truly wrote Chapter One.

My lack of nervous energy for this launch doesn’t mean I’m less proud, just a lot less stressed and anxious. I guess this less-responsibility, less-pressure version of writing is where first time writers usually start. You know, most often authors write a chapter or an essay or an article and then they write a whole book. As I type this, I’m shaking my head at myself a little. Why do I so often do things a little bit backwards? I could have started here, with one chapter, and dipped my toe into the publishing experience. Instead, I dove headfirst into the deep end of the metaphorical pool with a whole book. Sounds about right.

You’ve Got This, Mama – The Change Edition offers a collection of stories about transition and transformation that remind us we’re all just doing the best we can to find our way. My participation in this project has been joy-filled. In a complex year(s) of change, writing my chapter entitled, The Internship, was one of the easiest things I did. I can only hope that this effortless writing experience as a writer translates into an inspiring and enjoyable reading experience for the reader.

So FedEx truck or no FedEx truck, today IS the day for You’ve Got This, Mama – The Change Edition to launch on Amazon. You can grab your copy here: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/1998754227 or you can message me and I’ll deliver you a signed copy.

Here’s to continuing to do things a little backwards…A little less cookie cutter and a little more tough cookie. There’s no right or wrong way to be a writer, or to launch books into the world, or to navigate change. Backwards, forwards, sideways, and all the ways in between, You’ve Got This, Mama.
